About

Stevenson School was built at the same time as Curtis School and the addition to the high school. The School was built on land purchased from the Greater Sharon Realty Company and consisted of six lots at a cost of $1600. The building was of brick construction and consisted of six rooms and an auditorium and cost approximately $65,000.
The building was completed in 1926 and named Stevenson School in honor of John Stevenson, the Sharon industrialist who very unselfishly helped the school system in time of need and made generous donations to the schools.
Increased student population in the Masury area made it necessary to furnish more classroom space at the school. Therefore, in 1951 six additional classrooms were added to the main building. The School served the area well for many decades.
